Let's talk about handmade~

Good day~

Today, let's talk about handmade 

Hand. Made- literately, like it mean made by hand. 

The word may sound easy, however in reality, handmade wasn't that easy as people think!

First, you need to have lots of passionate on it!

Patient and effort are important too! 

Imagine the feeling of depressed after many failure of trial to make new creation.

Secondly, Creativity!!!

What make you want to handmade? Reduce cost? Decrease the expenditure of purchasing ready made stock? OR you want to make unique items for the special one? If that so, then you need to have creative mind to create the unique thing! How to add the personal touch to it? What to make your creation special than others?

Thirdly,you need to be resourceful!

As a handmade person, we need to search high and low for material, tools and even tutorial by our own. In Malaysia, somehow, it is not so easy to collect all the material. 

We search from the traditional accessories store to internet shops.

Forth, you need to be good in math! 

Costing is important, if you are into handmade business. Imagine, how to pricing the creation? How to calculate all the cost? The difficult part here is, people always only count material cost in but they ignore the time cost and manpower cost! 

Buyer always feel that handmade shopper over pricing their creations. But, dear buyer, believe me after you add in time and manpower cost in, we are not earn that much.

Fifth, you need to be capable in many thing!

After the creation done, there are still lots of thing on hand to be complete!

1. Take good picture of your creation! You need good photography skills. We maybe not professional in taking nice photo. But there are few point need to highlight here!

• The angle of taking picture
• The light level of taking picture, too dark or bright will influence the outlook of it.
• The background. I personally dislike messy background. (May write a tutorial on it, if  any of you request)
• The little sometime that make the picture look nicer.

2. Posting in social media! We need variety channel to show our creation, the way to promote our handmade products to the world. Managing the social media platform can be troublesome sometime!

3. Good customer service skills! To maintain good relationship with your customer, it is a must! 

4. Marketing skills! How to promote your creations, how to increase reputation and popularity, when and how to do promotion, what customer want and so on! 

5. Packaging skills~ How to surprise customer with nice package? how to make our package special yet secure to deliver by mail!

6. Good store keeping skills! 

Lastly, 

you still need a strong mind to accept any negative comment in handmade creation. 

and, the consistency to continue the handmade business.

So, Bello, that's my humble opinion on the handmade business.
